i wanted to explore what triptychs are and what they mean visually through text. i wanted to experiment with layering different borders with text to make a cohesive image with css/html coding.

Alright, today your assignment is simple, another pwned memette. This time, we are going to look in the news for our inspiration. I would like you to create a website with the theme being the pwnage of
hillary clinton vs Obama. Use what you know in CSS to make your site look like it could be a credible news site. One more requirement, you must make a graph in photoshop showing the amount of pwnage.
Bargraph…linegraph, pie chart…pwn chart …whatever.

For this site, i wanted to try something new with my header because all my other memettes have the standard title in the header with the search bar, etc. So I put my title in my side nav and then tried putting an add in the header. I am not sold on the ad placement, but it was worth experimenting with.

Create a gui interface about a mystical, magical fascination of your fancy. Do you have a secret obsession with unicorns and elves? Make a gui interface about them. Make sure it is interactive, and not just rollovers linking to websites unless you think it’s absolutely necessary. Make it be surprising and unexpected. Post a screenshot and the link to the blog and write about why you did what you did.

so my theme was mystical and magical……….. all fancy disney came to my mind. shrek came to my mind and the way it goes once upon a time with the story book came to my mind.

i took a picture of a book, i pasted a copy of toy story disney on it, edited the disney name and changed to my name, transformed the book to fit the angled book.

then i added glitter effect to the book. i spent at least 2 hours doing this. i read up on how to do it by clicking help on photoshop. and tried to understand the dumb instructions and managed to get some stuff going….

it works basically by having 2 layers with different glitters everywhere…. took quite some time…

i wanted to have that open book effect after that.. so i found a picture of an open book, found another picture of the once upon a time that i wanted and put it there..

the name magical suggest that it is a magical book, so roll over to see why it is magical..

i made the rollover image pop up when u roll over and become invisible when its not, to create that “magical” GUI effect that mariko wanted. (i don’t think that was your kind of idea… haha but..)

i wanted to do a 3 layer effect for the shrek, by having it be invisible, turn shrek and finally turn monster.. but it didn’t work so i just stuck with 2 layers…

i also had more pictures that i wanted to do but i ran out of time..

WHY ARTD 313?
Create a site that illustrates your path through the last four weeks and reveals why summer course ARTD 313 is a good use of your summer time.

Work with outline/photograph rollovers, similar to architecture site at http://www.arch.uiuc.edu/whyillinois/ but be more creative with the layout.

I tried to be a little playful with this assignment by making it into an “ode” to the class.  I was thinking about what it meant to be celebrating my birthday during this class and went from there.  I created rollover images that were similar to the ones she noted.

Here was my assignment:
Create a memmette about the sub prime mortgage crisis. Relate it to this article:
Create before and after pictures that utilize the image rollover in the html. Make sure there is a linked css.
Extra points if you can somehow include the subject of the publishers clearinghouse sweepstakes.
i tried a horizontal setup, but it was a pain to position things so i ended up mising relative and absolute and somehow i had to use some left and top because you can’t get negative numbers in those categories…
